Athletic Background: Always been an plucky all-rounder type but spent eight years as a professional / community football coach at Everton FC, and FA Technical Director / Manager England Amputee Squad

Biggest sporting achievement to date?: Completing New York Marathon (first ever big race) after starting with a groin strain from playing 5-a-side against US Homesless Team two nights before!

Favourite workout?: Anything short, especially track sessions. I'm definitely more of a sprinter than an endurance athlete, so far.

Least Favourite Workout?: Anything repetitive. I've got the attention span of a goldfish.

Worst Habit ?: Being impatient and trying / expecting to do too much.

Favourite song to train to / motivate?: Yesterday it was 'Levitate' by Hadouken. Today's favourite is 'Thinking About You' by Calvin Harris. Tomorrow who knows?

Something about you that many people do not know?: I once got arrested in Tashkent by the world's smallest 'policeman' who thought I was a drug dealer / looking for a bribe. I was later released (full wallet + smug grin) after his also tiny but much fatter boss found out I was officially a guest of their President.

If you could tell other athletes one thing you have learned so far in your training what would it be?: Me? I've only just started, but for any other newbies I'd offer the suggestion of making themselves a pest and asking those who've done it all before for their advice, but at the same time be confident in knowing your own body / limitations best.

What is your ultimate goal as an athlete?: I hate being average and a newbie. I'm aiming for a decent placing age group finish in a standard distance race, one day.

Favourite Race / Course?: I've not raced many so New York has to be the stand our race so far, but I've high hopes for the Outlaw Half (if I finish!)

What's your most memorable racing moment?: Enjoying the atmosphere throughout the NY marathon.

Any unusual race day routines or superstitions?: Definitely no superstitions. Just the usual last minute dash to be organised.

What race / event / ride is on your bucket list?: I'd love to complete a full iron man one day (no idea which yet ).

Swim: Blueseventy Helix wetsuit (won in a competition!)

Bike: Felt F85

Run: Overdue to replace a pair of Brooks Glycerin

Nutrition of choice: I'm a boring water and cereal fiend .

What piece of equipment couldn't you live without?: My phone until I get a Garmin Forerunner 910XT.
